Hi, I’m Linda and like many of Austin’s residents, I am not from Austin. I’m originally from Long Island, New York, and I moved to Texas in 1999. I then moved to Austin in 2003 to go to college and make art and then I fell in love, and I never left. When I say I fell in love, I don’t mean with a person, not back then in 2003. I did meet my husband here a decade later but no, after graduating, I didn’t stay because of a person, I stayed because of a park. Yes, of course, I mean Zilker Park!
Flash forward a bit and I’m still here. It’s still very convenient for me to go running around town lake, hiking in the greenbelt, or to go swimming if the water levels are high enough, and let’s admit that swimming in the summer here is the point of basically everything. I enjoy outdoors and I’ve gone on one backpacking trip in Arizona that totally kicked my butt and mostly I glamp with the regional Burning Man people, whom I enjoy building things with. I love gardening and eating vegetables, and stories, so I read a lot and watch a little too much Netflix.
I’m nearing 40, finally quit smoking, and need to work a lot harder to stay in shape. But hold on a mo’ – the pandemic hits. Town lake is suddenly not the place to be, nope nopers, not at all. I’ve start checking out different trails all over Austin, and I’m going to do my best to show you my favorite spots around town and try to be a bit entertaining in the process I hope. Here’s my mug. I’ll get a better one later, maybe, my selfie game is weak! I am however, pretty good at taking photos of my two cats and also of trees. So please enjoy my photos of trees. And clouds, because, Texas. I’ll refrain from unsolicited cat pics, but it’s going to be hard and I want you to appreciate my restraint. Let’s go check out some parks!
